This training is aimed :

  • at boarding team leaders and seagoing personnel authorized to record offences of piracy, armed robbery at sea and drug trafficking (navy, maritime gendarmerie, maritime police, coastguard, etc.).

     

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE CONTENT OF THE TRAINING

  • Reminder of the basic concepts of the Law of the Sea: legal regime of the waters, rights and duties of the flag State and the coastal State, derogations from flag rights
  • The state of threats of piracy and drug trafficking in the Gulf of Guinea
  • The offences of piracy, armed robbery and drug trafficking under international, Community and national law
  • The search for traces and clues and the establishment of offences
  • Evidence preservation techniques
  • The drafting of official statements relating to the detection of acts of piracy or drug trafficking
  • Regional and international police cooperation
  • The judicial consequences of intervention in the civil and common law systems: indictment, investigation, judgment, enforcement of sentence, regional judicial cooperation.

PEDAGOGICAL METHOD

 The training will be sanctioned on the last day with a knowledge test.
