The seminar is organized for :
- members of civil society from ECOWAS member states and Mauritania.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE CONTENT OF THE TRAINING
The training will cover the following:
- The architecture of Yaoundé ;
- Reminder of the basic concepts of the law of the sea: legal regime of waters, rights and duties of the flag State and the coastal State, derogations from flag rights;
- the regime of armed robbery, maritime piracy, marine pollution and illicit trafficking in international and community law; – project set-up, search for financing and networking;
- practical cases and visit to the port of Abidjan.
Expected Results:
At the end of the course:
- Members of civil society have specific and accurate knowledge of armed robbery, maritime piracy, marine pollution and illicit trafficking offences;
- Members of civil society are better equipped to deal with criminal matters related to armed robbery, maritime piracy and illicit trafficking;
- Civil society members are equipped with the tools to set up projects, find funding and network.
