This training course is intended for boarding team leaders and seagoing personnel authorised to record offences of piracy and armed robbery at sea (French Navy, maritime gendarmerie, maritime police, coastguard, etc.).
GENERAL CONTENT OF THE TRAINING COURSE
- Reminder of the basic concepts of the law of the sea: legal regime of the waters, rights and duties of the flag State and the coastal State, derogations from flag rights
- Piracy and armed robbery in international, Community and national law
- The state of the piracy threat in the Gulf of Guinea
- The search for evidence and the establishment of offences
- Techniques for preserving evidence
- Regional and international police cooperation in the field of piracy
- Judicial follow-up of the intervention: indictment, investigation, judgment, enforcement of the sentence, regional judicial cooperation.
PEDAGOGICAL METHOD
The training will be sanctioned on the last day with a knowledge test.
