The official installation ceremony of the new ISMI Strategic Committee took place on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 in the presence of the Minister of Maritime Affairs, Mr. Philippe Legré.

ISMI now has a Strategic Committee, composed of a representative of the Minister in charge of Maritime Affairs, the Executive Director of the Interregional Coordination Center (CIC), the Permanent Secretary of the Interministerial Committee for State Action at Sea (SEPCIM-AEM, Chairman of the Committee), the Director General of ARSTM, representing the PCA, the Secretary General of the Maritime Organization of West and Central Africa (OMAOC) and the Director of ISMI.

France, which has massively supported the project since its creation in 2015, was of course represented at this ceremony.

The SEPCIM-AEM (called “Secretary General of the Sea” in some countries) believes for its part that :

“ISMI’s track record is certainly already impressive, with more than 1,000 trainees trained from almost all the States of the Gulf of Guinea in less than 5 years of existence. But our vision is to make it an Institute with the capacities, prestige and international credibility of an IHEDN structure in Paris. This Training Institute is a bearer of hope for the future of the maritime sector in our subregion”.
