Training Content
The Master of laws “Law and Security of Maritime and Oceanic Activities (DSAMO)” is a French national diploma, delivered by the Faculty of Law and Political Science of the University of Nantes.
In Abidjan, the Master’s degree was designed to meet the training needs of executives from the maritime administrations of the Gulf of Guinea.
It is a multimodal training, i.e. it combines various and complementary teaching methods:
– online courses provided through the distance learning platform of the University of Nantes;
– Among these online courses, videos produced from the recordings of the courses given in Nantes to French and international students;
– Videoconferences to support students in their learning;
-courses given on site by teachers and professionals from the Gulf of Guinea.
The online courses are taught by teachers from the Faculty of Law and Political Science of the University of Nantes, and by teachers from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure Maritime (Nantes site).
The courses given on site are given by professors and professionals of maritime activities rigorously selected by ISMI.
Admission requirements
The conditions required to apply at Master of laws DSAMO are as follows:
01.
Level of recruitment: High School Degree+4 in a field containing a minimum of legal training or practice or High School Degree+2 and a validation of prior experience with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience
02.
Have at least 2 years’ professional experience in the maritime sector (5 years required for candidates benefiting from the validation of prior experience)
03.
Have a good command of French and a good level of English
04.
Have a good knowledge of the computer tool

Tuition fees
The application fee is 26,500 CFA, non-refundable, payable by the student at the time of application;
The training fees amount to 1,035,000 CFA (1,730.30€). Schedule for payment of training fees: 550,000 CFA francs payable at the end of August, 300,000 payable at the end of November and 185,000 payable at the end of February.
The costs of pedagogical design are borne by the French cooperation.
Cost of living in Abidjan
Other costs – food, accommodation, health insurance, internal transport and air tickets – are at the students’ expense. The costs incurred by the student over a ten-month period, excluding airfare, are estimated at approximately 2,350,000 FCFA (3582.55€):
450,000 FCFA (686.02 €) for transport
For a student residing in Yopougon, the common means of travel at ARSTM is the use of communal taxis, commonly called “woro-woro”. Depending on the residential area, the daily cost of the municipal taxi will vary between 700 and 1200 FCFA. For a student residing outside the municipality of Yopougon, the easiest way remains the interurban taxi or the counter taxi with higher financial implications.
550,000 FCFA (838.47 €) for accommodation
Estimate for 10 months of renting an unfurnished studio in Yopougon, including one month’s rent paid to the real estate agency for research costs. According to current practices, the tenant may be required to pay a 3-month deposit and a 2-month advance.
1,050,000 FCFA (1600.71 €) for catering
The lunch break can be taken at the ARSTM restaurant at a standard cost of 1000 to 1500 FCFA per meal. It is the students’ responsibility to make the necessary arrangements for breakfast and dinner.
300,000 FCFA (457.34 €) for health insurance
The foreign student will be covered by the ARSTM health insurance plan. This plan offers year-round coverage of 100% for consultation, 80% for pharmacy, 80% for surgery and 80% for hospitalization. Membership of this insurance plan remains mandatory for all foreign students.
To these charges, it is necessary to add the costs of documentation, installation, and, for foreigners, the costs of visas and residence permits.
