The seminar is organized for judges, prosecutors and lawyers from ECOWAS Member States and Mauritania.
General description of the content of the training
- basic concepts of the Law of the Sea: legal regime of the waters, rights and duties of the flag State and the coastal State, derogations from flag rights;
-
the regime of armed robbery, maritime piracy, illegal immigration, drug trafficking and IUU fishing in international, Community and national law;
- judicial follow-up (indictment, investigation, judgment, execution of sentence, regional judicial cooperation);
- feedback of experiences ;
- practical cases and vessel visits.
PEDAGOGICAL METHOD
The training will be sanctioned on the last day with a knowledge test.
