GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE CONTENT OF THE TRAINING
The seminar will cover the following topics:
- reminder of the basic concepts of the law of the sea: legal regime of waters, rights and duties of the flag State and the coastal State, derogations from flag rights;
- the regime of armed robbery, maritime piracy, illegal immigration, drug trafficking and IUU fishing in international, community and national law;
- judicial follow-up (indictment, investigation, trial, execution of the sentence, regional judicial cooperation);
- feedback ;
- practical cases and visit of a ship
Expected Results:
At the end of the seminar:
- Magistrates, prosecutors, and lawyers have specific knowledge of armed robbery, maritime piracy, illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and IUU fishing;
- Magistrates, prosecutors, and lawyers are better equipped to investigate, prosecute, and apprehend offenders in the areas of armed robbery, maritime piracy, illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and IUU fishing.
PEDAGOGICAL METHOD
The course will be concluded on the last day with a knowledge test.
