This training course is intended :
- for judicial police officers and civil servants with judicial police powers in the field of maritime piracy,
- armed robbery and illicit trafficking from the administrations (Navy, Maritime Affairs, Customs, Police/Gendarmerie, etc.).
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE CONTENT OF THE TRAINING
Within the framework of the ECOWAS Integrated Maritime Strategy, the objective of the course is to strengthen the capacities of the APJ in the field of ship control procedures, the recording of piracy offences, armed robbery and trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances at sea, as well as the related judicial follow-up.
Specifically, the objectives of this seminar are:
- to teach the penal regime of the different maritime spaces;
- instruct on intelligence techniques and targeting of vessels at risk at sea, in harbours and in ports;
- Strengthen expertise in shipboard survey procedures and techniques;
- to teach the techniques of search of the vessels which can lead to the finding of the offence;
- to make known the good practices of intervention and observation of a violation and of writing a report;
- To know the procedure for legal follow-up after the offence has been established.
